Description
Prepares students for graduate courses in analysis. This subject matter is central to any modern use of mathematics beyond routine calculation. This course and MTH236 (abstract algebra) are the core courses of any mathematics major. It may also be very useful for those planning graduate work in statistics, operations research, mathematical economics and business.
Topics covered
Real number system, uniform continuity, mean value theorems, bounded variation, Riemann-Stieltjes integral, sequences of functions.
