The Mobius energy, introduced by O’Hara, is one of the most famous knot energies. In their seminal paper, Freedman-He-Wang proved its invariance under Mobius transformations along with the existence of minimizers for all prime knot types. I will go over some of their notable results and then outline some of my recent computations regarding stationary helicoidal strips with Mobius energy on the boundary components.
