You close your eyes and are placed at some arbitrary location in a familiar room. Can you identify your location by clapping your hands once and listening to the resulting echoes and reverberations? In joint work with Yakun Xi, we give a precise formulation of this question on Riemannian manifolds, probe it with a variety of simple examples, and establish a positive answer for a generic class of metrics.
