3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Hylan 1106A
The magnetohydrodynamics system consists of the Navier-Stokes equations forced by Lorentz force, coupled with the Maxwell’s equations from electromagnetism. This talk will be expository (motivation, overview, difficulty, no technical details) about the direction of research about stochastic PDE forced by space-time white noise, with the new result on the 3-d magnetohydrodynamics system forced by space-time white noise. Some key words include KPZ equation, local subcriticality, renormalizations, Wick products, the theory of regularity structures, the theory of paracontrolled distributions, Bony’s decompositions and estimates.
