This talk will be focused on the history and development of the Hardy inequality, for both series and Lebesgue integrals. We will discuss Hardy’s motivation for his research and intermediate results due to the research of Hardy and his contemporaries before presenting proofs of the Hardy inequality. We will close with a discussion of alternate proofs and further results.
