Motivated by the results of Yoccoz and Perez-Marco in complex dynamics, about a decade ago Lindahl and I conjectured that there are no small cycles in positive characteristic. The goal of this talk is to explain how this conjecture is connected to wildly ramified power series and to report on the recent progress obtained in collaboration with Nordqvist and with Ren.
