We will describe some basics of voting theory and analyze a variation on approval voting. We will start by describing a mathematical for voting system and then we will look at an axiomitization of approval voting and how we need to change those axioms in order for generalizations of approval voting. Time permitting, we will also discuss distance rationalizability which, briefly, is a way justifying a voting system by showing that returns the result of a the nearest “unanimous” election.
