I use the theory of ramification groups to give a simple representation of the Galois groups of iterated quadratic rational maps. In certain cases I am able to use this to give an expression for the fixed point proportion of the standard group action on a binary rooted tree. The arguments required are relatively elementary and require some basic knowledge of combinatorics, Galois theory, and algebraic number theory.
