Modern mass media—blogs, traditional journalism, YouTube, podcasts, public lectures, etc.—enables broad audiences to share in the joys of math and science. In this talk, I will discuss two of my recent experiences communicating technical ideas to the public. Through the AAAS Mass Media Fellowship, I worked as a science journalist at NOVA Next. After that, I was the founding writer and host of PBS Infinite Series, a weekly YouTube show about college level mathematics. I will give an overview of these experiences and some personal observations about math in the media.
