Text: Actuarial Models, The Mathematics of Insurance, by Vladimir I. Rotar. Second Edition

Course Information: This course will be an introduction to actuarial models for life insurance and contingency claims. It requires a solid background in calculus, linear algebra, and probability theory. Without such a background you will likely struggle in this course.

This course also provides partial preparation for Exams MFE and MLC as offered by the Society of Actuaries.

Prerequisite: “C” or better in MATH 5010. Fulfills Quant. Reason. (Math & Stat / Logic)

Homework: There will be homework (almost) every week, that I’ll post on Friday on Canvas. It will be due the following Friday in class.

Midterm: Two in-class 50 minute midterms on Feb 12 and Mar 25.

Final Exam: Final will be in-class 50 minutes, Apr 22.
