2) Abstract Algebra by Dummit and Foote (3rd ed)

In the first semester, we will cover Chapters 1 - 6 of Ash's book, accompanied by corresponding sections of Dummit and Foote. Our goal will be to gain fluency in the foundations of algebra: groups, rings, fields, and modules. We will finish with Galois theory.
