Description

This prepares students for graduate level algebra courses. It may also be valuable material for theoretical physicists. This course and MTH 265 (real analysis) are the core courses of any mathematics major.

Topics covered

An introduction to basic algebraic structures, groups, rings, fields, with applications to specific examples.
