We discuss the global stability of Minkowski space for the Einstein-Maxwell-Klein-Gordon system, based on joint work with Hans Lindblad. Our proof uses a modification of harmonic coordinates which provides a greater understanding of the asymptotic behavior of the metric. This modification in particular provides improved energy bounds for the scalar and electromagnetic fields. We conclude by discussing potential applications of this method to other coupled Einstein-field systems.
