## University of Rochester $\pi$ Day

The lowercase Greek letter $\pi$ is used to indicate the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, an irrational constant whose value is approximately $3.1415$. Since $\pi$ is close to $3.14$ and $3/14$ is March 14 in the American calendar math enthusiasts have chosen this day to honor $\pi$. The holiday is known as Pi Day or $\pi$ Day.

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus our event for Pi Day 2020 has been canceled. We are sad to lose this chance to connect with the wider university community and we apologize that our undergraduate researchers will not have a chance to share their work at our poster session this year. We will return with a new event in the spring of 2021.
